My brief was to create a campaign that would appeal to 15 and 16 year-olds and would encourage them to apply to the East Barnet School Sixth Form. In addition to getting them through the ‘Open Evening’ door, the ongoing challenge was to keep them engaged throughout the process, ensuring consistent and engaging content, and ultimately a high sign up rate.

I ran a three week Instagram social campaign, targeting the relevant demographic using a parody of a well-known entertainment service:

To bolster the campaign, I went on to create movie posters of imaginary films to advertise different career paths to prospective students:

To welcome visitors during Open Evening, giveaways were created, with everything contained within DVD cases, including the prospectus, to further build on the movie theme that was established. Free popcorn was also organised!

I’m not going to give away all my marketing secrets, but there were various additional points of contact following the Open Evening, leading to applications and continued engagement up 300% – a bona fide success!

The brief for this job was to create a new menu design for a Cajun seafood restaurant in a modern and simple design. The owner wanted red and pink to feature heavily, to use a photo of real food and be DL size.

J&K Fishbar are based in the states and are a self-confessed old-school style seafood shack. As both a fish market and fast casual restaurant, the brief was to design a simple tri-fold logo with their logo and their offering. They wanted to convey the freshest seafood in a no frills environment.

Staff Room Revamp, UK

The brief on this project was to create a revamped area of a state school staff room in London, with, unsurprisingly, very little budget. The space is windowless, lacks colour, and has no divided areas and these were the three things I tried to rectify. Obviously, I couldn’t put in windows, but I erected the wall you see to create a booth behind to make phone calls in quiet, which was a request from staff. On that wall, I then designed a graphic with windows, greenery and iconic London symbols, to create the illusion of fresh air and, well, windows. The breakfast bar, then gave the impression of being in a café, with modern stools. I chose to use this lino flooring to separate this area, which was previously carpet (not great for a kitchen area), and to bring the design together. For the pop of colour, I then chose colourful chairs with large tables for lunch!

Having designed the logo for Hypnotherapy by Elissa, it was time to build the website to increase traffic and leads. The nature of the business meant the website needed to be serene and calming, whilst also informing visitors on the benefits of hypnotherapy. There is a lot of speculation about hypnotherapy, so it was important to create a knowledge-leader website.

Hypnotherapy by Elissa is a business from Hertfordshire that has been going for quite some time, but the owner decided an identity was needed, and that all starts with a logo. Friendly and simple was the brief; something that would show the approachability of the business.

East Barnet School Website, UK

The East Barnet School website was almost a decade old when I was tasked with creating a new site built on WordPress, that would be more attractive to a modern audience, an easy way to share news and create a library of school history. I took this brief, and decided to build on the ‘university-style building’ that I had read during the rebuild process and created a website that was a cross-over between a school and a university of college.

Visitors have drastically increased since the new website launched and there is a low bounce rate as the new navigation structure is embedded.
