My brief was to create a campaign that would appeal to 15 and 16 year-olds and would encourage them to apply to the East Barnet School Sixth Form. In addition to getting them through the ‘Open Evening’ door, the ongoing challenge was to keep them engaged throughout the process, ensuring consistent and engaging content, and ultimately a high sign up rate.
I ran a three week Instagram social campaign, targeting the relevant demographic using a parody of a well-known entertainment service:
To bolster the campaign, I went on to create movie posters of imaginary films to advertise different career paths to prospective students:
To welcome visitors during Open Evening, giveaways were created, with everything contained within DVD cases, including the prospectus, to further build on the movie theme that was established. Free popcorn was also organised!
I’m not going to give away all my marketing secrets, but there were various additional points of contact following the Open Evening, leading to applications and continued engagement up 300% – a bona fide success!
